Privacy Policy

Make My Meal ("the app", "we", "us") is an AI-powered family meal and tiffin planner operated by Atul Singla, trading as Intellibridge, based in Mauritius. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Make My Meal Android application (package name app.makemymeal.mobile).

By creating an account and using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account information. When you sign in with Google or with an email and password, we receive your email address and display name. Authentication is handled by our backend provider, Supabase.
• Household profile. The number of adults and children in your household.
• Family member details. Names, whether each member is an adult or child, and children's ages. You choose what to enter — you may use nicknames or initials.
• Dietary and health information. Allergies (e.g. nuts, dairy, gluten) and dietary preferences (e.g. vegetarian, vegan). This may be considered sensitive / special-category data, and we use it only to make safe, relevant meal suggestions.
• Cuisine and cooking preferences.
• Cook / helper contact. If you set up a cook, we store the name, phone number, and preferred language you enter for them so you can send meal instructions via WhatsApp. Please make sure you have that person's consent to store their details.
• Meal activity and feedback. Meals generated for you, whether you accepted, rejected, or cooked them, and per-member reactions you provide.
• Voice requests. If you use the voice input feature, your speech is transcribed to text by your device's built-in speech-recognition service.

Information collected automatically

• Usage and limits data. Counts used to enforce free-tier limits and premium status (e.g. how many times you sent instructions to your cook, weekly plans generated).
• Technical data. Standard information needed to operate the service, such as authentication session tokens. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the app.

We do not knowingly collect precise location, contacts, photos, or financial/payment information in this version of the app.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Create and secure your account.
• Generate personalised dinner and children's tiffin suggestions that respect your family's allergies, dietary rules, cuisine preferences, and recent meals.
• Let you send cooking instructions and shopping lists to your cook, helper, or family via WhatsApp.
• Enforce free-tier limits and provide premium features.
• Improve and troubleshoot the app.
• Comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases (where applicable, e.g. under Mauritius DPA / GDPR-style laws): performance of our contract with you, your consent (which you may withdraw at any time — especially for sensitive dietary/health data), and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the service.

3. AI processing (OpenAI)

Meal suggestions and optional voice notes are generated using OpenAI services. When you request a suggestion, our backend (Supabase Edge Functions) sends OpenAI the information needed to produce a relevant result — such as your household composition, children's ages, allergies, dietary and cuisine preferences, and recent meals. Your OpenAI requests are routed through our server; the app never exposes an OpenAI key.

We send only what is needed for meal planning and do not send your email, cook's phone number, or account credentials to OpenAI. Per OpenAI's API terms, data submitted through the API is not used to train their models.

4. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the app ("processors"), and only as needed:

• Supabase — Hosting, database, authentication, storage, and backend functions. Receives your account and app data.
• OpenAI — Meal suggestions and text-to-speech voice notes (premium). Receives the meal-planning inputs described in section 3.
• Google — Google Sign-In, and device speech recognition if you use voice. Receives your sign-in identity and spoken audio for transcription.

WhatsApp: When you tap "Send to Cook" or share a shopping list, the app opens WhatsApp on your device with a pre-filled message (or, for voice notes, shares an audio file via Android's share sheet). The message is sent by you, from your own WhatsApp account — we do not transmit it on your behalf and do not receive its contents. WhatsApp's own privacy policy governs that message.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the service.

5. Children's data

The app is intended for use by parents and adult household members, not by children. Family member details, including children's names and ages, are entered by the adult account holder to personalise meal and tiffin suggestions. We use this data solely for that purpose. We do not create accounts for children or knowingly allow children to use the app directly. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see section 8), we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.

7. Data security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls on our backend. Your authentication is managed by Supabase Auth. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, Mauritius's Data Protection Act, 2017, or similar laws), you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data (you can edit most data in-app under Settings).
• Delete your account and associated data.
• Withdraw consent for processing sensitive data (dietary/health) at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

Deleting your account and data: You can request deletion in-app via Settings, or by emailing app.makemymeal@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my account". We will verify your request and delete your data as described in section 6.

9. International data transfers

Our providers (Supabase, OpenAI, Google) may process and store data on servers located outside India or Mauritius, including in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers. By using the app, you understand your data may be processed in these locations.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this URL and change the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated in the app where appropriate.
